Which one you should buy, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 or the Aprilia RS 457? | HighRPM

Kawasaki Ninja 400 and Aprilia RS 457

Recently, in December 2023, Aprilia launched its all-new Aprilia RS 457, the first made-in-India Italian bike. The Aprilia is a brand which is known for its powerful, big, and track-centric machines. This RS 457 has less power than its other sibling but can shake the segment with its amazing power-to-weight ratio and Aprilia's fit finish.

This Aprilia has some rivals in the market but in my opinion, the most strong one is from a family of monsters like Aprilia RS 457. This rival has been present in the industry for years and has won many hearts too, I'm talking about the Kawasaki Ninja 400.

These two bikes are superb at their job and this thing leads to confusion. In terms of looks personally, to me Aprilia is looking more dashing than Ninja, now it doesn't mean that Ninja is not a handsome bike there is no doubt but for me, Aprilia is a bit more sexier.

The topic to discuss is definitely not looks, it's about power, price, and other things, so, drop your gears and vanish.

What is their price?

So, the Aprilia RS 457 comes with a price tag of 4.10 lakh ex-showroom. The delivery of this bike has not yet started the brand said that they will commence delivery at the beginning of March this year.

On the other hand, the price of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 is on the higher side when compared to this, the 2023 Ninja costs around 5.24 lakh ex-showroom which is literally crazy and looks overpriced.

What about their power and performance?

The Aprilia comes with a 457CC liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine with a 69mm bore and 61.1mm stroke with fuel injection technology and BS6 Phrase 2.
Thanks to this engine, you can experience 47bhp of power at 9400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6700rpm. It weighs just 150kg which makes the power-to-weight ratio pretty phenomenal.

Meanwhile, the Kawasaki Ninja has a liquid-cooled 399cc parallel twin engine with 70mm of the bore and 51.8mm of the stroke, DOHC 4 valves, fuel injection 6-speed transmission, and BS6 emission compliant.
In terms of power & torque, this engine churns out 44.7bhp at 10,000rpm and 37Nm at 8000rpm.

That 58cc differences are quite visible although it won't feel much while riding them it might kick in when riding side-by-side. Ninja is noticeably less in power but torque and it is heavier at the same time.

Now it's time to check their features!

Both bikes have all those features that one expects from this price point, like, ABS, LED headlamps, information-rich instrument cluster, etc.

Now, here is the catch, there is some crazy shit going on, on Aprilia's side. They offer ride-by-wire technology, a switchable ABS function, and three riding modes that alter power and traction control. They are also giving a traction control system with freaking 3 levels and on top of that they are also offering quick-shifter but that's optional.
The Ninja is still using a semi-digital instrument cluster whereas the Aprilia is giving a full TFT display which has phone connectivity.

Therefore, in terms of features, Aprilia looks more sound than Ninja.

Mileage of Aprilia RS 457 and Kawasaki Ninja 400

The mileage of the vehicle matters a lot.
The Ninja 400 serves you 26-27 kmpl of mileage and it has 14 litres of capacity, which means its range is 364 km.

Unfortunately, the mileage of Aprilia RS 457 is unknown for the moment. The fuel tank capacity is 13 liters.

What about tires and brakes?

So, basically, both the bikes run on the same size of tires, that is, 110/70 17 at the front and 150/60 17 at the back.
Both come with disc brakes at both ends but the size of the Aprilia's disc is slightly bigger than Ninja's. Aprilia features 300mm at the front and 220mm at the back. Meanwhile, Ninja features 286mm disc at the front and 193mm at the back.

Service and showroom availability

This thing plays a crucial role and can alter one decision.
Kasawaski is present in 26 states and 62 cities of India approx Kawasaki has 97 showrooms in our nation.
Meanwhile, there are 200 showrooms of Aprilia in India, but I have to keep this thing in mind Aprilia also makes shooters so I know that not all the Aprilia showrooms serve big bikes and their servicing facility.

So far, we have seen that Aprilia looks more worth buying and in my opinion, you should go for RS457 because of better specification and technology but it doesn't mean that Ninja 400 is a waste of money, at the end of the day both are good machines.
