Skoda Slavia replaced Skoda Rapid, does Slavia have that amazing essence of Rapid? | Price, Power, Mileage, Features | HighRPM

Skoda Rapid the car which was standing with its boldness and and sharpness has been replaced by new Skoda Slavia, Slavia the car with freshness of style and new fragrance of sportiness.

Slavia is rich with new elements which are adding some great vibes to the car, thus it successfully turned the market towards itself after launch and actually before launch too.

Rapid played in the market for long time with presentable report card and Slavia is replacing that car so it have to be two steps ahead from its substitute and as far as I know, this car, is actually doing good because of some extra stuffs which were not there in Rapid. Slavia came to the market with two engine options in both manual and automatic transmission but diesel engine is still missing.

It is full of features and safety things which makes it even more attractive. The playfulness in the body language is just splendid giving it real road presence.

Price of this all new Skoda Slavia starts at 10.69 lakh and goes up to 17.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The car is available in three variants with two petrol engine options.

  • Skoda Slavia Active 1.0L TSI.....10.69 lakh         (M)
  • Skoda Slavia Ambition 1.0L TSI.....12.39 lakh   (M)
  • Slavia Ambition 1.0L TSI.....13.59 lakh               (A)
  • Slavia Style.....13.59 lakh                                       (M)
  • Slavia Style 1.0L TSI.....13.99 lakh                       (M)
  • Slavia Style 1.0L TSI.....15.39 lakh                        (A)
  • Style 1.5L TSI.....16.19 lakh                                   (M)
  • Style 1.5L TSI DSG.....17.79 lakh                           (A)

The car is available in two engine options 1.0L & 1.5L petrol engine however the diesel engine is not there which is kind of upsetting for diesel lovers.

1.0L petrol
It extract power from 999cc 3 cylinder DOHC TSI petrol engine which channel all the power and torque to front wheels, it has turbo, 6 speed manual transmission & 6 speed torque converter, paddle shifters are there along with sport mode. The engine churns out 114bhp of power at 5000rpm and 178Nm of torque at 1750rpm.

1.5L petrol
The 1498cc 4 cylinder DOHC 1.5L TSI petrol engine with Active Cylinder Technology. Active Cylinder Technology, cuts 2 cylinders out of four when the vehicle is not showing its potential or you can say when the vehicle is in low speed, thus Slavia conserves more fuel.
This 1.5L engine is a mad organ of this car which produces 148bhp of power at 5000rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1600rpm, all this power and torque goes to front wheels managed by 7 speed DCT & 6 speed manual transmission, turbocharged, sport mode and paddle shifters.
The car is BS6 emission compliant.

In terms of features the car is loaded with stuff that make this car more attractive
  • 6 airbags
  • ABS
  • EBD
  • ESP
  • Traction control
  • Hill hold control
  • Electronic differential lock
  • Engine immobilizer
  • Child seat mount
  • Child safety lock
  • Speed sensing door lock
  • Seat belt warning
  • 3 point seat belts with pretension
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • Ventilated seats (front) (cooled)
  • Cruise control
  • Parking sensors
  • Parking camera with guidelines
  • Rain sensing wipers
  • Apple car play
  • Android auto connect
  • Skoda connect
  • Automatic climate control AC
  • Manual seat adjustment
  • Active Cylinder Technology
  • Voice command
These are top model (Style 1.5L TSI) features.

The car can accommodate 45 litres of fuel in single visit of gas station and mileage is pretty impressive,
1.0L Manual- 19.47 km/l
         Torque Converter- 18.07 km/l

1.5L Manual- 18.72km/l
         DCT- 18.41 km/l

The car runs on 205/55 R16 tyres alloy wheels with disc brakes at the front and drum at the back which is not good in my opinion, it should get disc at the back too.

The lights are looking fab adding more vibes to the car.
  • Headlamps- LED
  • Tail lights- LED
  • DRLs- LED
  • Fog lamps- Halogen
  • Indicators- Halogen

Being a sedan it has enough ground clearance to tackle all the day to day hurdles, dimensions are like,
  • Length- 4.541m
  • Width- 1.752m
  • Height- 1.507m
  • Wheelbase- 2.651m
  • Ground clearance- 179mm

Exterior
Slavia comes into the game with bold and aggressive style that clearly sharpening the real sedan design. The sharpness in the body language adorning the vehicle impressively.

Face
That signature tiger grille standing broadly to allow sufficient breathing. The angry styling of all the elements making it an attractive looking car. The use of chrome around the grille nicely merging with the motion. The headlamps are slick and DRLs giving it more presence but it get halogen indicators and at this price point where other maker are stuffing LEDs Skoda is try to do something different which is weird. Below the grille the huge vent is there and that housing of vent covering the halogen fog lamps too. Bumper is sharp as sedan deserves.
On the hood the brand have given some sporty touches which are enhancing the handsomeness of the car. Rain sensing wipers are there but ADAS features are missing but that is not the concern I believe.

Side profile
The length is very impressive and in my opinion the ground clearance is not that bad too, being a sedan it has plenty of group clearance which can easily clear normal hurdles. The flow of shoulder lines is just fabulous thus it get that slick and sporty stance. Window area is also large enough to bring good amount light inside the cabin thus the cabin is airy and always welcoming. The chrome garnish on the side giving an amazing look to the car. The alloy design is matching the personality of the car and the tyre size is also nice. Sharp lines are running across the side of the car making the styling more attractive.

Rear end
The tail of this car is just awesome all the items at the back has been placed fantastically which comes together and make such beautiful tail. The split tail light setup and design is making an astounding style. On the boot lid big Skoda badging is there and on the lid you also get a slight spoiler. It get reflectors in the lower area of back with chrome line connecting both side of reflectors. There is no showoff of exhaust outlet not even real one, the exhaust is hiden beneath.

It get defogger, shark fin antenna and small sunroof too although the MG Astor is giving you huge panaromic sunroof.

Interior
The cabin is absolutely phenomenal, what we have seen in Rapid, it is completely different from that and more luxurious than that.

Rear seats
The dual tone effect is going great doing its job amazingly. Over here you get three adjustable headrests with armrest along with cup holders.
At rear the space is enough for three people but the middle person has to compromise with comfort a bit because of center AC vent and hump. The windows are big and small quarter glass maintaining good light and airy feel. 60:40 split is available over here.

Front seats
Front seats are more comfortable with nice side bolstering and nice thigh support. You get armrest with some space and that sliding feature too. Another missing feature in Slavia is automatic seat adjustment, whereas the Astor is offer you electric seat adjust in its mid range model.

Dashboard
The most attractive things about the dash is that kond of copper finish on the line connecting AC vents of both ends. The dash is premium and sporty as well. Now it get new 10 inch infotainment system which is filled with features that enhances the fun of journey. Below that you get AC vents and AC controls which are touch sensitive not physical control. Then you have some space and gear knob with some buttons around and seat ventilation button is also here.
Cup holders are there and manual hand brake is also nearby.

Coming to another most awesome thing of new Skoda is that two spoke steering wheel with chrome and glossy black highlights. The steering is adjustable for height and reach, get media, call and cruise controls buttons.
Now, it won't get that old boring instrument cluster that we have seen in Rapid although the lower variants still get that but the top end has fully digital instrument cluster that is full of info and features.

Things which are not justifying in this price.
Fast of all it won't get brake assist, electric seat, panaromic sunroof (way better than Octavia), rear disc should be there and halogen fog lamps & indicators. These are some thing which this car should get at this price.

Other than the car is absolutely gem indeed, it got swag and features too and power as well with DCT transmission deadly combo.
So, this is the all new Skoda Slavia 2022 which replaced the Skoda Rapid.......
