Which electric scooter is best for you? Ather 450 VS Bajaj Chetak | HighRPM

Petrol is literally kissing sky and out from many hand thus electric vehicles are raising their head. In this event electric scooters and bikes are gaining popularity like fire in forest, because they are not much expensive and gives enough range by which you can do your day-to-day small distances.

So, two scooters, electric scooters which gives you great number of features and nice range too, one is the grandson of legendary Chetak, the all new electric Bajaj Chetak and the other one is new to this market, result of a startup the Ather 450.

These two electric scooters are one of the expensive scooters in the field with big list of features in the boot. Both the scooters are looking fab and deliver you great power and range. In terms of looks, designing and presence on road these two stand out nicely.

Both the scooters are awesome but the biggest question is which one you should own? Which one is perfect Bajaj Chetak or Ather 450?

Price

Ather 450- 1.27-1.49 lakh

Chetak- 1.15- 1.20 lakh

So, the price of Chetak is bit on the relaxed side than Ather.

Battery and Power

Ather 450- 2.9kWh lithium ion battery and motor of 6.5kW PMS motor.

Power, 6kW or 8bhp

Torque, 26Nm.

Bajaj Chetak- 3kWh lithium ion battery with BLDC Hub Motor

Power, 4.08kW

Torque, 16Nm.

Both the scooters are powered by lithium ion battery and the capacity of the batteries are same. But the Ather produces more power and torque than Bajaj.

Features and safety

Combi Braking System                           (Both)
Digital instrument cluster                     (Both)
Reverse system                                        (Both)
Park assist                                                 (Both)
Regenerative braking system               (Both)
USB charging point                             (Chetak)
Digital clock                                              (Both)
Low battery warning                              (Both)
Digital speedometer                                (Both)
Remaining range                                     (Both)
Remaining charge                                   (Both)
Keyless go                                              (Chetak)
Anti Theft Alarm                                  (Chetak)
Navigation                                                (Both)
Phone connectivity                                 (Both)
Center locking                                         (Ather)
Touchscreen instrument cluster         (Ather)
Call controls on cluster                         (Ather)
Music controls on cluster                     (Ather)
Riding modes                                          (Ather)
Document storage in cluster                (Ather)

No doubt that Ather comes with more features those features which very unique interesting too but I think Ather misses out some important things like anti theft alarm and important USB charging point.

Charging time and Range

Ather- Three riding modes

Eco- 85km | City- 70km | Sport- 60km

5 to 5.45 hours for complete 100% life.

Chetak- 90-95 km in full charge

Charging time- 5 hours for 100%, upto 25% in 1hr (fast charge).

Chetak give you more range and charge faster than Ather.

Tyres and Brakes

Ather- Tyres- 90/90 12 (F&R)

             Brakes- 200mm disc (F)

                           190mm disc (R).

Chetak- Tyres- 90/90 12 (F)

                           90/100 12 (R)

               Brakes- Disc (F)

                             Drum (R)

The best part here is that Ather comes with disc at both the ends which delivers great stopping power.

Lights

Ather- Headlight- LED
             Tail light- LED
             DRL- LED
             Blinkers- LED

Chetak- Headlight- LED
               Tail light- LED
               DRL- LED
               Blinkers- LED

Dimensions

Ather- Length- 1.8m
             Width- 70cm
             Height- 1.25m
             Wheelbase- 1,27m
             Ground clearance- 16cm
             Seat height- 76.5cm

Chetak- Length- 1.97m
              Width- 74.5cm
              Height- 1.14m
              Wheelbase- Not available
              Ground clearance- 17.0cm
              Seat height- Not available

Both the scooters are awesome, both have good no. of features and range too but both are scooter lacking ABS which I think is important because both have nice amount of punch specially Ather. Bajaj Chetak is less expensive than Ather and have all those important features which will help you while riding and its range is also more than 450. One buy electric scooter for basic features and more range Chetak offers you that in less price. But if you won't power and torque than Ather is there.
