What? BMW iX Flow can change its colour! | Unveiled BMW iX Flow | HighRPM
Your car might not change its colour but this car does, seriously, this BMW change its colour whenever you want it to do so.
Recently BMW has launched their second electric car BMW iX after BMW i8 in India but before people can build their relationship with iX they unveiled something beyond imagination, the colour changing beemer, BMW iX Flow at CES Las Vegas on 6th of Jan.
BMW know that wrapping a car is a headache, they know that it is a time consuming process where sometime the result won't satisfy you and that's why they made a car which can changes its colour via phone application.
This is something which we were little kids always dreamt about that our car change its colour like transformer oh sorry they were to much they changes the whole car, so to make that dream true BMW has taken steps which won't stop now.
Coming back to this Chamaeleon, with this tech BMW kept the bar to 9th sky and it will be intersting to see how other car makers will grab the attention of the market when this Flow enter the dealership.
Everybody is super curious to know how BMW made this thing possible, what they have done with the exterior to achieve this phenomenal result.
The biggest question is, how can this BMW changes its colour?
So, firstly thanks to Jonathan D Albert why I'll tell you in a bit. Stella Clarke, the Research Engineer of BMW unfolded all the folds of this tech.
BMW used a substance known as Electronic Ink Technology or e-Ink which has been invented by Jonathan D Albert in 2016.
Now the question is, what is Electronic Ink and how it is made?
Electronic Ink is a liquid substance which reacts to electrical impulses. It is prepared in the lab by millions of tiny charged particles which are enveloped in millions of microcapsules and these particles closed in these capsules are negatively and positively charged, whereas the negatively charged are white and black positively charged. After mixing these particles or capsules in a clear ink, it results in Electronics Ink.
It is easy to work with carbon fibre, steel, iron but it is not easy to work with this type of substance, so BMW made thick sheets of this Ink and carved BMW iX Flow.
When you use the app to change the colour, the electrical impulses run aross the car thus it changes its colour. Right now the Flow swap colour between black and white, however BMW said that they are working on full spectrum and in nearby it might possible that your fav colour will change in a daily basis, who knows.
Stella said the biggest advantage of this technology is that when you are in colder region you can choose black colour to absorb as much energy or heat as possible and white when sun will too harsh.
Talking about the design, as it has taste of future its design also show that futuristic things. Design is similar to the BMW iX have all those sporty highlights, missive grille, and bold personality.
Right now Flow is not in production but it will in assembly line very soon.
This going to be the future of automobile, intersting, of course........
