The new Alto is more expensive now but still one of the affordable car in the Indian market. | Engine, Price, Features, Mileage | HighRPM

  New makeup, new swag, new styling, new attitude and new price but still most affordable four wheeler in the Indian market. When the tag of most affordable kicks in only one name comes out the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 2022. Whatever you say about this car you can't deny that fact that is car is completing dreams of many people out there. 

So, there are lots of updates on the exterior and in the interior as well and the biggest change now is that the car is available in automatic transmission as well. Although there is no change in the engine but things are different in this new update. 

Expecting diesel at this price range is not less than too much, only petrol engine is present with both manual and automatic transmission, it comes with AMT and even we can't ask for other automatic transmission that would be highly extra at this price point. 

So, I was talking about its affordability, therefore the starting price of the car is 3.99 lakh and the top model cost you around 5.84 lakh and these are the ex showroom tags. The car available in three variants which only petrol engine with both manual and automatic transmission.

The new Alto is still running on the same engine which was introduced when this car was born, that K10C 998cc 3 cylinder inline SOHC petrol engine. This engine churns out, 66bhp of power at 5500rpm and 89Nm of torque at 3500rpm. It comes with FWD, 5 speed manual transmission & 5 speed AMT and BS6 emission norm.

In terms of features the car won't stand out.

So, this things lacks a lot of stuff that have to there because it is no that cheap as well, it won't have rear power windows, won't have parking camera, won't have some necessary things which is not good indeed.

This car is all about mileage, this is one of the reason why this car sold in India like crazy. The manual gives you 24.39 kmpl and on the other hand automatic gives you 24.9kmpl. And the size of the fuel tank is 27 litres. 

It runs on 145/80 R13 tyres with steel rims no alloy is available. Besides that at front there are disc brakes but at rear it have drum brakes. To make you drive smooth this thing have Mac Pherson Strut with coil spring and at rear it get Torsion Beam suspensions.

Exterior 

The exterior of the car is now bit more attractive than before although the exterior is not completely changed but these minor changes are looking great indeed, due to these new minor changes the aroma of fresh Alto is attracting more people than before. 

Face

So, here are some noticeable changes that are giving newness to the vehicle. The new design of the grille is looking great with that new honeycomb shape and the grille is looking bigger than earlier, ther is no use of chrome can be seen on the car of the Alto 2022, full blacked grille and this black treatment is also giving it sportier appearance as well. Headlamps are also changed and not much just slightly, still the car is far away from LED setup, it comes with halogens. No fog lamps are present, bumper is simple. Some sporty lines are there on hood to give it more appeal. The best part is that it still comes with dual wiper not like the rival Kwid, single washer nozzle is there to wash you windscreen. Old school antenna is at the front side of the roof. 

Side profile

 Its a small car, even this length is 15mm shorter than before, so now you have more smaller Alto don't get upset because this reduction is visible on papers only not in real life because in real this change is hard to notice. Other than the length of the car height has been in creased by 45mm means more head room, and they have also added 20mm to its wheelbase. 

ORVMs are still the same black simple won't have indicators too, old fashion door handles are present even on top end. To give more attractive some sporty lines are running all across the side of the car. Wheels small and there is not alloy wheel wheel option is present but you can modify this thing as per your wish. Ground clearance is plenty means it gives you confidence over bad roads. Windows are not the biggest have decent size which allow sufficient amount of light in the cabin.

Rear end 

The back of the car is simple and have basic design which won't look attractive but the brand has worked here as well thus the new elements are looking good. The tail lamps are are merged with the indicators and reverse light, stop lamp is placed at the upper side of the back. Maruti is still giving that key opening thing for the boot gate which is so freaking out dated. 

Interior

To give it a new touch some things have been updated and changed as well but you get the same vibes from the cabin however at this price point we can't get much. 

Rear seats 

At rear things get bit more depressing, because here you don't have adjustable headrest you just get the fixed and it won't give you arm rest as well, leg room is not that great, knee room for tall passengers in not there even your knee are going to hit the front seat continuously, head room is ok ok and under thigh support lags a lot. Seat belts and some storage space as well on the door other than that power windows are missing.

Front seats 

Here the seats won't have adjustable headrests but you have manual seat adjustments, arm rests is absent here too, seats belts are there and under thigh support is there. 

Dashboard

Over here the changes are coming out nicely thus the new look of the dashboard is just fab. At the center it comes with an infotainment system which has decent amount of features as well. You can connect your phone via bluetooth and it have all the usual features which you can think at this price point. Coming down there are physical buttons for AC and heater, below that there are some storage space with USB port and 12v socket, two cup holders are waiting for you cups and nearby this you get your gear lever and now the major change is that the car is available with automatic transmission. 

Steering wheel and Instrument cluster 

So, it comes with a multi function steering wheel, on which you get controls of infotainment system and and voice control as well. Other than that the steering wheel is adjustable both for reach and height, manually. 

Talking about the cluster, the cluster is way better than before because it have complete digital display that looks very sporty indeed. It tell you not much but the interface and the design is very attractive. So it shows you speed, time, fuel, range, temperature, and other basic things but yes it misses out the tachometer and for car and bike enthusiast tachometer is more important than speedometer, why, I don't know but the tachometer looks very fascinating.

At the end.......

The dream of buying a car is in millions of eyes but as we all know day by day things are going out of people's reach and in this kinda situation these cars comes in front try to convert dreams into reality. There are many flaws but at this price point we can't expect much from any brand. The car is simple have all the necessary ingredients that you want but all these ingredients are present in the top end and the top end is literally on top in terms of price. The best thing about Alto is that this car is real low maintenance vehicle. But in terms of quality Maruti is not doing that great the quality level of this car is not that impressive.
